tribute
i must congratulate the boys former known as the backstreet boys. =) they made a really impressive comeback!, i really didn't think they could do it. in terms of record selling hits, and chart topping sell outs, they didn't do so well, just like i wouldve predicted. i don't think the tour that they tried starting did that well either? they definately had to go to smaller cities (ie. waterloo instead of Toronto) and held them in smaller venues i guess beucase they didn't think they could sell out their concerts or make a profit. but in terms of their music produced..hey hey not so bad.
for the longest time i refused to listen to their new album thinking that it would be the most horriible thing imagined. the reason was because the world of music has changed so incredibly much in the past couple years that if they came back with the same stuff, they would've failed miserably compared to the artists today. anyhow euge burnt a cd for me with a couple songs, didn't like it much at first (probably becuase i was really closed up to this new album). he eventually got me the cd which i never opened til months later. (possibly 4 months later) i guess the album really grew on me, cuz now i can't stop playing it on my ipod. these songs are goood. there IS talent in it. good range of instruments, strong vocals, solid base and choreography. im really impresssed. the only thing that bothers me is nick's annoying whiny voice which i once thought was adorable. " tell me whyeeeee..." haha. but he's working on it. its getting better. in addition they did a good job of breaking out of their "backstreet boy" image. they have grown and have shown some musical maturity. theres alot of passion in this album - you can hear it in their voices. when it comes down to it, its all about the passion. ask mr. coldplay. he knows what passion is all about.
i hate people bash artists for not playing their own instruments. theres nothing wrong with focussing strictly on improving your vocals. playing instruments while singing is a whole new world that is another challenge to help you grow as an artist - but is it really neccessary? producing your own music is another thing. sets you as an artist on a WHOLE NEW LEVEL in my opinion. not every can do it. now the question is, can you really call yourself an artist when you can't even write your own music? but can only sing what others have produced? (not saying bsb can't write and compose their own music, cause they have, with assistance and it was decently put together).
one thing i think they need to improve on is their lyrics. its a little too straightforward and plain. theres tons of room for improvement there. =)
anyway good job boys. you guys will always have a place in my heart. haha. check out the album if you get a chance to!
